Before and After Photos

Prof Moawad said that photos are worth thousands of words. MSI online Photo Gallery contains thousands of before and after patient photos. All patients are treated and/or supervised by Prof Moawad. All patients signed the medical photography consent form—a few photos dated back to the 90s. MSI has categorized selected photos by subject. The entire collection and albums can be seen on social platforms such as Flickr, Tumblr, Google Photos, and Pinterest. If you enjoy watching videos instead, see before and after photos on our channels on YouTube and Vimeo.

Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)

Arm shaping is most often pursued with skin laxity sustained after massive weight loss, and this group can present with a great deal of variability. Other patients who have not sustained massive weight loss but have issues with lipodystrophy or skin laxity also pursue surgery on the arm. Women interested in the shaping of the arm who would like to get improvement along the deltoid region and over the triceps are good candidates for liposuction of the arm. Women of more advanced age with loose arm skin may come for tightening of the skin, which may be amenable to minimal incision Brachioplasty or traditional Brachioplasty. This also may be a presentation secondary to liposuction with residual skin laxity.

In the massive weight loss patient, the skin excision may need to be extended onto the chest (lateral chest wall extension). Residual skin excess at the elbow and forearm can be an issue and may not be corrected with Brachioplasty. Patients with congenital or bought lymphedema or lipomatosis syndromes of unknown etiology may receive help from liposuction along the forearm and upper arm, understanding that there is a risk of recurrence.

There is currently an increasing number of transcutaneous energy delivery devices available. They are broadly classified according to the type of energy they deliver to their target: mechanical (e.g., suction, massage), radiofrequency, ultrasound, cryolipolysis, and laser. Of these, radiofrequency devices are the most popular. Adverse outcomes following noninvasive body-contouring treatments are uncommon but may include thermal injuries and temporary dysesthesia.
