ESCSL was formed due to the increasing demand and growth of cosmetic and aesthetic medicine. No specialty currently offers formal residency training in aesthetic procedures. In today’s modern medicine, advanced technology is rapidly progressing, which can be seen with lasers. Patients can now receive quick, non-invasive procedures with little risk or downtime (compared to the surgical procedures that used to require a hospital operating room and general anesthesia). Most physicians get trained by CME (continuing medical education) courses or seminars, which vary in content, cost, and practicality. Therefore, membership in the ECSL is open to a wide variety of medical practitioners; dermatologists, cosmetic surgeons, endocrinologists, family practitioners, general practitioners, dentists, and ENT specialists, to name a few.
